The Ocean Group was formed in 2004 and is a significant not for profit, social enterprise based close to the world famous Eden Project, but with housing related business interests throughout the South West of England. Ocean owns and manages over 2600 general needs and 700 sheltered homes for affordable rent and provides a wide range of other related services including property maintenance, choice based letting and private sector lease management services for a wide range of public sector and social landlord clients. The Group also wholly owns a successful building and construction company – Gilbert & Goode Limited and is a founder member of AdvantageSW a limited liability partnership which was formed to source, procure and supply new homes built using Modern Methods of Construction.

All surplus income from commercial activity is used to support improvements to existing homes and develop new homes for rent and shared ownership.

Ocean employs more than 300 people and had an annual turnover in 2006/07 of £19.6 million.
