Ocean Services SW (Ltd) has won the title Boiler & Renewables Installer of the Year at the National Green Deal & ECO Awards 2014.
The company had previously won the south-west regional award and competed against 16 finalists from around the UK to finally win the national title and bring it back to Cornwall.
The award recognises not only the company’s work installing boilers and renewables throughout Cornwall but also its commitment to working with partners such as Cornwall Council to raise awareness of the Green Deal and ECO initiatives. Ocean’s Managing Director, Howard Brett said,
“We really welcomed these initiatives and strongly believe they have a major role to play in the reduction of fuel poverty”.
Ocean was chosen to project manage and install various energy saving systems at a pilot project in Penwithick fully funded by Cornwall Council as a trial for Green Deal to find out which measures worked most effectively given some of Cornwall’s unique problems such as climate and geography.
Ocean was also the first delivery partner chosen by Glow Cornwall (a collaboration between British Gas and Cornwall Council) to help install ECO funded measures throughout the county.
Gary Almond of Glow Cornwall said,
“My experience with Ocean has been one of complete satisfaction and considering I have been in the gas industry 45 years I am not easily impressed however, the team at Ocean has managed to exceed my high expectations”.
More Energy Efficient
Through initiatives such as Glow Cornwall, Ocean is at the forefront of helping make Cornwall’s homes more energy efficient by continuing to install renewable energy measures. Householders, landlords and tenants are encouraged to take advantage of the recently announced Green Deal Home Improvement Fund. The scheme helps people to install energy efficiency measures such as solid wall insulation and new heating systems by providing them with contributions of up to £7,600 towards improvements.

These commemorations are important. Not only to recall the events, pay respect and remember the sacrefices made by others – but also to help us all put our lives in perspective when we realise how lucky we are to live in peace within our own land today.
World War One – Memorial Challenge
In this momentous year, Ocean is once again supporting the Royal British Legion to help launch their Poppy Appeal 2014.
This summer, the Resident Involvement team are running a schools’ challenge to design a war memorial. Once created the monument will be unveiled at the Poppy Appeal launch. The winning school will also get to display a Giant Poppy made by the Ocean Services team of apprentices.
The ‘Design a WW1 War Memorial Challenge‘ for schools will help raise awareness and keep this part of history fresh in the minds of the next generation. Schools have starting registering for the challenge – if your school hasn’t yet registered, find out more how you can enter:
The residents are teaming up to collate WW1 music, photos, cakes and raffle prizes to raise funds in aid of SSAFA, who offer lifelong support for our forces and their families. Any donations and help would be warmly welcomed.
