‘We’ve been married for 3 years now, but this is our first proper home,’ beamed Laura-Jane. ‘We’re really looking forward to having our own space and want to thank Ocean for making our dream a reality by moving into our house today.”

Mr George Eustice, MP for Camborne, Redruth and Hayle unveiled a plaque to commemorate the opening of the Ocean Housing scheme at Poldory View and Poldory Meadows in Carharrack and welcome the residents to their new homes.

There were smiles all round when Group Chairman Dennis Spilsbury gave a helping hand to Laura-Jane and Japha as they moved into their new home.

Dennis commented “We are delighted that young local people have their own homes for the first time and we are sure they will be very happy here.  We are also thrilled that the homes were built by local company Gilbert & Goode, providing local people with jobs and apprenticeships.”

Visitors and local residents then made their way to Mills Hall in Carharrack for the cutting of a cake by Megan and Matthew, children of a local family who recently moved into the new homes.

The £2.1million scheme sees the addition of 16 new homes to Ocean’s first development in the area. While 10 of the properties are rented, 6 are Shared Ownership homes purchased by local people.

This scheme was delivered through the Homes and Communities grant programme and the land for both Phases was made available by Cornwall Council.  Ocean is delighted to continue working with the Carharrack Parish Council to help address the housing need within the Parish with these new homes.
