Local Consultation

Thank you to all those who came along to look at the draft plans for the redevelopment at Polgrean.

We’ll be taking on the feedback, concerns and questions we received and we’ll answer as many as we can and display them in our new drop in facility in the coming weeks and here on the website.

Polgrean Place Hub NOW OPEN

The drop in facility, next door to Hands Together in Landreath Place, will be used by the Polgrean Project Officer, Annie as well as members of the Development team, Alice and Louise. It’ll be open a couple of days a week for you to drop by, ask questions and have a natter about the redevelopment and what it could mean for you. We’ll keep the latest plans displayed in there for you to take a look at and updates on how the redevelopment is going.

What are we doing?

We are incredibly excited about the future of Polgrean Place and Landreath Place; most importantly to us, this is a regeneration project for the local people and area. We want to create somewhere where our customers love to live and build on the great community that already exists there.

There are 66 homes and 6 commercial units across Polgrean Place and Landreath Place that are affected by our proposals. We have grouped them in to the following phases:

  • Phase 1 – Polgrean Place flats (1-12 and 13-47 odds only)
  • Phase 2 – 14-72 (evens only) Polgrean Place flats
  • Phase 3 – 59-70 Landreath Place flats and commercial units

Whilst this is a large and complex project, the opportunity to reinvigorate the area is also very exciting, and will improve the lives of all those living in the area. However, your wellbeing is a priority to us, and we want to support the whole community through this process.

We are now in the planning stages of this development, and aim to complete the redevelopment in 3 phases. After demolishing the existing properties in phase 1, and starting building work on the new properties, we shall then move on to phase 2, followed by phase 3. We anticipate that the build programme will finish around 2021.

We will be working closely to support all those affected, and have a dedicated Project Officer who will be assisting our customers as much as possible.

Why are we redeveloping?

Providing good quality homes for our customers is our priority, and the redevelopment of your area gives us an opportunity to replace old, difficult to manage homes, with modern, more energy efficient ones and improved estate environment.

We have extensively investigated if we could refurbish your home to try and improve its energy efficiency and reduce condensation problems for customers, but due to its age, design and construction, and costs, we do not feel this is the right long-term solution.

As we appreciate the need to improve the area as a whole, we have decided that the best option is to demolish the properties and invest in redesigning the area with your help.

Helping us plan for the future

We want to involve all our residents and the community in the redevelopment and the designing of the new area. We will be at the Polgrean Place Hub twice a week but we will also be holding local consultation sessions on specific dates in the future to get your feedback on our ideas and what you think will be best for the area.
