Deafness Smoke Alarm

Customers who are hard of hearing can now sleep easy, thanks to a unique smoke alarm.  Ocean often undertakes home safety checks with local fire services ensuring customers are alerted of a fire, but for some, a standard alarm is not enough.

Safe and Sound

The innovative smoke alarms are installed as part of Ocean’s minor aids and adaptations budget.  Fitting comfortably under the pillow, the alarm works in unison with a standard smoke alarm. In the event of a fire, it detects the sound from the standard alarm, alerting the sleeper with a series of vibrations and flashing strobe lights.

“It’s a compact piece of equipment” says Bernard; “It certainly gives me piece of mind.”

If you have a hearing impairment, contact your GP or Social Worker who may be able to refer you for an assessment.
