Local school Play Fund receives boost from Ocean

Local pre-school Little Nippers in Mevagissey was excited to welcome Ocean Housing for a pre-Christmas boost.

Little Nippers is a registered charity supporting 2-5 year old children in early years care and education.  In order to support their ongoing costs and improvements, fundraising events are planned throughout the year as well as seeking support from local businesses.

St Austell-based housing provider Ocean has built in the region of 80 properties in Mevagissey, creating much-needed homes for local families and individuals.

Mark Gardner Ocean Group’s Chief Executive spoke of Ocean’s role in the community,

“We are delighted to support organisations in the local neighbourhood and we know our younger residents will benefit from having a great start to their education at Little Nippers.”

The pre-school aims to ensure children are independent and ready for school and currently employs four members of staff, who look after a total of 28 children. All monies donated or obtained through fundraising are used to buy new indoor and outdoor equipment as well as toys for the children to enjoy.

Lucy Wright from Little Nippers welcomed the support,

“Ocean Group’s donation will help with our Christmas fundraising event and raise money for the outside play equipment we are hoping to purchase in the New Year”.

Beverley Bassett from Ocean Housing’s Tenant Involvement Team went along to meet the children and staff to hand over a cheque for £100.
