May Bank Holiday

Banner May Day GC

Many of us will be looking forward to the extra long weekend this May Bank Holiday. There’s plenty going on, out and and about in Cornwall. However, after the winter we’ve just had, and with the warm weather and extra time at home, some of us are turning our attentions to spring cleaning and DIY.

Spring Clean

sponging downIt’s been a damp old winter to say the least. Now is the time to clear away any evidence of the wettest winter on record for the past century.

Make the most of the warmer days and fling open your windows. Wipe down any lingering condensation and mould spots on walls, ceilings, hidden corners and furniture. Pull your furniture away from the walls and tackle mould head on.

MouldGetting rid of mould

  • Any condensation that forms on surfaces should be wiped off promptly to prevent the risk of damp and mould.
  • If mould still appears in your home, wipe it with a fungicidal wash – you can buy this in most large supermarkets or DIY stores.
  • Alternatively you can use a diluted bleach solution.
  • Please make sure you wear rubber gloves and follow the manufacturer’s guidelines.

Painting and decorating your home does not require a permit from Ocean. However, if you are thinking of making home improvements, you will need approval from Ocean – as mentioned in your tenancy.

If you are unsure if you need permission to do some DIY, take a look at the Home Improvements page or use our Online Contact form and it will be processed by the Customer Services team.
